Cleaning Up Affiliate Links
What does cleaning up affiliate links mean ? Well it simply means to have a more search engine friendly (SEF) version of your affiliate link.
Here is an example of making my affiliate links search engine friendly.
Here is my raw LinkShare Affiliate URL :
| http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=25BxxLu82uM&offerid=7097&type=3&subid=0 |
Here is a cleaner, search engine friendly version :
http://www.info-intel.com/linkshare.html
The way to do this is with a blank HTML page and a simple little code.
Step 1 – Make a blank web page or file in your directory or file manager or whatever your host calls it, or you could just make a new directory or folder for your affiliate links. In this example, we will make it linkshare.html
Step 2 – On that blank html document put this code at the top :
<meta HTTP-EQUIV=”REFRESH” content=”0; url=http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=25BxxLu82uM&offerid=7097&type=3&subid=0“>
Step 3 – Remove the red text and put in your affiliate link and save the file. We will save it as linkshare.html to keep in spirit with the example.
Step 4 – Update your affiliate Links to http://www.info-intel.com/linkshare.html.
Step 5 – Test it out, and Wallah !
The cool thing about cleaning up your affiliate links is they create back links to your site from your site, adding to content value, and you don’t scare off customers by them assuming its an affiliate link. It also much more professional and adds credibility to your project.
